Her light-filled studio, The Woodcarvers Studio, is located in the South Downs National Park in West Sussex, UK. She works with a team: Philip, Kate and her son Sam. Their collaboration is precise and deeply focused; the atmosphere in the studio, with its scent of wood, dust, and light, is calm and almost meditative. They work on forms and lines that are already inherent in the wood. The sculptures are clear and powerful. Alison Crowther’s art reflects her philosophy: she does not seek to dominate the material, it´s a partnership between the material and herself.
